Who Knows? God Knows

Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then we will experience God's peace which exceeds anything we can understand

It's a question we often ask in conversation.

"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belongs to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law" (Deuteronomy 29:29)

The bible says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Scripture is easy to quote, but hard to live by especially when tragedy and loss (e.g death, divorce, financial issues, health issues, war etc...) touch our lives and when we don't understand why.

There are times when we pray and God gives us answers, and there are times when we pray that God doesn't give us an answer but His peace, with an answer later or maybe not at all. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then we will experience God's peace which exceeds anything we can understand.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

In times of pain and loss, here are some scriptures we can stand on:-

"The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belongs to us". (Deuteronomy 29:29). When it comes with understanding what God wants to reveal to us. We have our territory, and God has His, and ours is limited to what He decides to reveal to us. Paul wrote by divine revelation, "We know in part and we prophesy in part, but when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but face to face, now I know in part but then I shall know just as I am known". (1 Chronicles 13:9-12) At best we will always be limited in our own understanding.

"And we know that all things works together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28).  Sometimes God explains things to us, and other times He conceals them, revealing at a later time or maybe not at all, which reinforces Proverbs 3:5-6.

So we can always count on God to make the (later on) of difficulties a thousand times richer and better than the present when we overcome correctly, as no discipline seems pleasant at the present time, but later on it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace, what a yield! (Hebrews 12:11)

So when we are tempted to throw up our hands in despair and say "Who knows?" we can say to ourselves "God knows" and that He is working things out for our good and His glory.
